Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled in the BANGO mobile app and related web pages. BANGO is designed to stay light for home use, so it does not currently include account registration or server-based sync for user content.

Information handled by the app

BANGO handles information entered by users, such as meal names, recipe notes, pantry item names, stock status, ordering, and the weekly recipe selection, to make the app function.

In addition, because the app uses Google AdMob for ads, Google may process information such as advertising identifiers, device identifiers, IP address, crash logs, performance data, and ad interaction data. This description is based on Google's official Mobile Ads documentation.

OCR feature and on-device processing

For the OCR refill feature, the app uses a user-selected image, text extracted from that image, pantry item information, and refill-matching input data for on-device OCR and Bonsai-based inference.

The developer does not currently provide a flow that sends those images, extracted text, or inference inputs to a developer-operated server or to third-party generative AI services for OCR or refill matching.

That information is used inside the app so the user can review refill candidates and decide whether to apply them.

Why the information is used

BANGO uses or handles information for the following purposes.

  • To display and maintain the meal list, pantry shelf, and weekly recipe within the app
  • To keep user-entered content stored locally on the device across launches
  • To evaluate likely pantry refills from a selected image and show the result inside the app
  • To display and measure ads through Google AdMob
  • To respond to inquiries and communicate important notices

Local storage

BANGO stores meals, pantry items, and weekly recipe data in local device storage. At this time, it does not implement developer-operated server sync, account registration, or cloud backup for this data.

As a result, meal and pantry information entered by the user is generally stored only on the user's device. That data may be lost if the app is deleted, the device is reset, replaced, or damaged.

Advertising and tracking permission

BANGO uses Google AdMob to display banner ads. On iOS, the app may request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission in connection with ad delivery optimization.

In the current implementation, ads can still be requested if ATT is not granted, but the app switches to non-personalized ad requests. According to Google's official guidance, when ATT is denied, the Google Mobile Ads SDK does not send the IDFA in the ad request.

Disclosure to third parties

The developer does not currently operate a server flow that sells or voluntarily shares user-entered meal names, notes, or pantry records with third parties.

For the OCR feature and Bonsai-based refill matching, the developer also does not currently provide a flow that sends selected images, extracted text, or inference inputs to third-party generative AI services.

However, Google and its partners may process identifiers and technical information as part of ad delivery and measurement. That processing is governed by Google's own policies.

Choices available to users

Depending on the platform and device settings, users may be able to do the following.

  • Review or change tracking permission in iOS device settings
  • Reset advertising identifiers or review ad-related settings on the device
  • Delete locally stored BANGO data by removing the app or clearing app data on the device

Changes to this policy

The developer may update this policy as needed due to legal requirements, service changes, SDK changes, or operational reasons. Updated content will be announced on this web page or in the app.
